Orchesmith: Rediscovering timeless melodies

Welcome to Orchesmith, where the enduring magic of classical music is brought to your fingertips. Witnessing the recent resurgence of interest in classical compositions, especially among younger generations, we recognized a unique opportunity. Digital platforms have made classics accessible, but Orchesmith aims to go a step further. We curate exceptional classical compositions, from baroque to modern, and make them available not just online, but also through partnerships with public libraries. Our mission is to educate and inspire, sharing this rich art form with everyone, everywhere. Join us in celebrating the timeless beauty of classical masters.

Our passion for classical music

Orchesmith is the culmination of a lifelong passion. My journey with classical music began in the 1950s, regularly attending concerts by the San Diego Symphony and La Jolla Civic Orchestra. Our home and car were always filled with the sounds of a classical radio station. With twenty-five years of active solo and chamber music practice and performance, this project is a natural extension of that deep-seated love. Based in Poway, California, Orchesmith is my way of sharing this cherished art form with new audiences, ensuring its legacy continues to thrive.

What makes us unique

At Orchesmith, our approach to classical music curation is deeply personal and informed by a pianist’s perspective. We delve into how melody interacts with accompaniment, exploring the nuances of touch on the keyboard to produce diverse acoustic effects and moods. Beyond the notes, we consider the stories of piano soloists and the chamber or symphony orchestras they favor. This meticulous attention to detail allows us to present classical music collections that offer a rich, immersive experience, inviting listeners to appreciate the profound artistry in each composition.

Bringing classical music to everyone

Our vision extends beyond digital streams. Orchesmith is committed to forming innovative partnerships with public libraries, offering them curated lists of classical music that they can subscribe to and download. This model empowers libraries to lend out high-quality classical compositions to anyone with a library card, making this art form accessible to impressionable infants, children, teens, adults, and seniors alike. We believe anyone with the time, patience, and a receptive mind should have the opportunity to engage with the beauty of classical music.
